With the departure of some top shuttlers from the training camp, the Indonesian badminton team has been left somewhat depleted, but its coaches are telling players not to lose hope.

"I'll keep telling them to *be brave'. After all, the opponents mostly eat rice too, just like us," coach Aryono told reporters recently at the national training camp in Cipayung, East Jakarta.

The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) hasannounced the 20 shuttlers it intends to send to the Sudirman Cup, which will run in Guangzhou, China from May 10 to 17.

The lineup misses 2004 Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat and world's top mixed players Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa, who decided to quit the national team for individual reasons.

Indonesia's chances in winning back the trophy it won in 1989 for the first and only time so far may be slim, but Aryono, mixed doubles coach Richard Mainaky and men's doubles coach Sigit Pamungkas have all told players not to lose hope.

"Without Flandy, Vita in the mixed doubles and Taufik in the men's singles, it is true that our squad is now weaker compared to the previous Sudirman Cup squad," Aryono said.

"However, if players are fit and play well, we may have a hope of get ting into the final," Richard said.

PBSI had initially mulled recruiting veteran men's doubles specialist Alvent Yulianto as a stand-in for world No. 1 pair Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan, in case Kido could not recover from his injury. But they seem to have relied on what is left of the team, half of whose members are debutantes.

"We have to prepare the younger generation for the next international events, like the Thomas Cup," Sigit said. "They deserve this *Sudirman Cup championship* opportunity because their performances are coming close to their seniors."

Indonesian squad
Men's singles: Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Simon Santoso, Tommy Sugiarto Women's singles: Maria Kristin, Adriyanti Firdasari Men's doubles: Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan, Bona Septano/Muhammad Ahsan, Rian Sukmawan/Yonatan Suryatama Women's doubles: Shendy Puspa Irawati/Meliana Jauhari, Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Mixed doubles: Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir, Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita, Fran Kurniawan (reserve).

Dear Grandpa and Grandma

Yesterday at my school was had International Day. We had performances, food stalls, displays, raffles ticket draw and some of us were dressed in customes.
We started our day off with performance but the one I liked best the one form fourth grade. It was about games. The performance I was in was called Labamba.
Straight after our performance we had our lunch. There were food stalls. They came from Australia, Asian, Arabic and Greece.
Every one had a job. These people were from six grade. I did my job after I had lunch. My job was to sell International Day Books.
We has displays in the hell. These displays were good but I didn’t get to see them. The displays came from a lot of countries.
There was also a trash and treasure stall where they sell toys. The school got these things by asking the children to bring in.
After lunch we had a raffle ticket draw. I didn’t win anything but a lot of people did.
Although I didn’t win anything, International Day was still fun.

Cancer

What is cancer? It is actually a group of more than one hundred separate diseases. Most of us are fear from cancer It is reasonable because next to heart disease, cancer is the second leading cause of death.
Cancer cells come from normal cells because of mutations of DNA. Those mutations can occur spontaneously. The mutations may be also induced by other factors such as: nuclear and electromagnetic radiation, viruses, bacteria and fungi, parasites, heat, chemicals in the air, water and food, mechanical cell-level injury, free radicals, evolution and ageing of DNA, etc. All such factors can produce mutations that may start cancer.
Cancer cells are formed continuously in the organism. It is estimated that there are about 10,000 cancer cells at any given time in a healthy person. Why do some result in macroscopic-level cancers and some do not? First, not all damaged cells can multiply and many of them die quickly. Second, those which potentially divide and form cancer are effectively destroyed by the mechanisms available to the immune system. Therefore cancer develops if the immune system is not working properly or the amount of cells produced is too great for the immune system to eliminate.

Birth Control

Most people agree that some form of family limitation or spacing is desirable for the good of the family and society. But individuals and groups–especially religious groups–differ sharply on the methods of birth control that they consider moral and acceptable.

Couples that practice birth control do so for various reasons. They may want to limit or space their children, or to have no children at all. Young couples often postpone having children so that both partners can work full-time. Other couples space their children so they can give each child as much attention as possible. Some women are advised by their doctors to avoid pregnancy for health reasons. In many countries with rapidly growing populations, the government encourages couples to limit the size of their families.

Even though birth control has gained in acceptance, opposition to the practice is continuous. Some people fear that birth control encourages sexual relations outside marriage or that government might impose birth control. Some religious groups oppose birth control on moral grounds.

Some religious groups teach that artificial methods of birth control are immoral because they separate the two purposes of intercourse in marriage–conjugal love and the procreation of children. Although they oppose all artificial birth control, they consider natural family planning acceptable.

Is it important to know your kids are watching? Of course it is. Television can expose your children to things that you have tried to protect them from, especially violence, drug abuse etc.

One study demonstrated that watching too much TV during the day or at bedtime often causes bedtime resistance, sleep onset delay and anxiety around sleep, followed by shortened sleep duration.

Another study found a significant association between the amount of time spent watching television during adolescence and early adulthood, and the likelihood of subsequent aggressive acts against other.

Meanwhile, many studies have found an association between kids watching a lot of TV, being inactive and overweight.

Considering some facts above, protect your children with some following tips:

1. Limit television viewing to 1-2 hours each, day.
2. Do not allow you children to have a TV set in their bedrooms.
3. Review the ratings of TV shows that your children watch.
4. Watch television with your children and discuss what is happening during the show.

Discuss alternative and more acceptable things that characters could have done.
